Snow Snow and Drivers who can't drive in SNOW

12 hours to travel 16 miles - but highly entertaining watching people try and drive up hills only to see them slide down again. Fortunately there were a lot of police out assisting people and explaining how to drive a car in snow and ice.
I was really pleased they did not ask us to turn round as that morning I lost the use of 5th and reverse gear. Fixed now.
Ah well Christmas in two days so just going to chill

Snow Snow and more Snow

Took today off to strip the last parts out of the Moggy as it is going to be soda blasted in January and guess what - IT SNOWED.

Can't get to the garage with the car - and that is where all the tools are as I have had to fix that one as well.

But I can get to the pub - so that is where I am going. It's warm and sells beer. It will give me a chance to finish my project list.

Hope all have a good Xmas as this will probably be the last posting of 2009

Looking forward to 2010 as that is when the paint will go on and the fun starts putting it all back together.

Now what did I do with all those labels :)

Wrong Car

Well rather than work on the Moggy my everyday car has decided to shoot a brake pad and start leaking water from the rad and heater hoses. So will be spending the next couple of hours fixing that. Never mind the moggy will still be there saturday

Twickers

Brilliant decision -  a great game and great company - and a few beers.

What better way to spend a Saturday

Decisions decisions

Well a dilema - do I go to Twickenham to watch the Barbarians v New Zealand with my nephew - or do I work on the Moggy ?

TWICKENHAM it is then - Moggy on Sunday :)

Wednesday, 2 December 2009

Well it's been a quiet week. Have not been able to get out and do much as work is taking over at the moment.
Did collect some Stainless Steel door tops on Sunday. Also the heater for the garage arrived, so hopefully the cold winter won't be so cold now.

Sunday, 22 November 2009

The moggy has been in a barn for 25 years. Having looked at quite a few over a period of months, I went one sunday morning to a farm just outside of Portsmouth to have a look at the one in the photo's.

One of the biggest problems with these cars is rust to the chassis legs and cross members. This was the main reason I had looked at so many. A rebuild is one thing, replacing floors and chassis legs is just to much hard work.

Walking into the barn and seeing the car for the first time my face started to grin of it's own accord. The car was on it's side and the underneath - which was the only bit I could see was in mint condition.

When the car was being rebuilt 25 years ago, all the sills, chassis legs and floors had been replaced and then painted with the same paint they use for bridges. 25 years rust free guarantee. Obviously that has now passed but the paint is as good now as it was then.

There is no engine - no interior and after yesterday no glass.

The car is going to be soda blasted and I will put up photo's when completed.
